Roy Lancaster is HPS New President

The Hardy Plant Society has announced the appointment of Roy Lancaster as the Society’s new President.

Roy will be the Society’s second President following the sad death of the founder President, Alan Bloom, in March two years ago.

A well-known and respected figure to amateur and professional gardeners alike, Roy’s infectious enthusiasm never ceases to delight audiences both at home and abroad.

We are delighted that this appointment coincides with the 50th Anniversary of the foundation of The Hardy Plant Society in 2007.

Speaking after his appointment Roy said, “I am delighted and honoured to be asked to be President of the Hardy Plant Society.

Alan Bloom was a hero of mine, and to follow him is a great privilege. Having been a member of the Hardy Plant Society for many years, I have always regarded myself as an ambassador for the Society, and will continue to do so in the same vein.

This has long been one of my favourite societies; for its warmth and enthusiasm, I often refer to it as the ‘Friendly Society’, and long may it be so.”
