 Aubrieta 'Somerford Lime'Aubrieta 'Somerford Lime' released to the UK ornamental market in 1999 by Farplants Sales. Breeder / selector Mike Tristram was a columnist for PLANTS at the time and wrote: " Aubrieta 'Somerford Lime' was released this year by Farplants, and by Royal Sluis. I selected this at Binsted Nursery in West Sussex for foliage interest as well as flowers. This is an inversion of Aubrieta 'Argenteovariegata' with bright lime-gold leaf centres and darker green edges, and a good habit in a container (same purplish-blue flowers as the parent). As is often the case with variegated plants there is an occasional green shoot, but not enough to be a problem. The same sport was developed about the same time both by myself and by Fred Yates in Cheshire, so we have collaborated over choice of name and agreed to share the variety. (Plant Breeders Rights was originally applied for).
