Brunnera 'Silver Wings'B. macrophylla 'Silver Wings' is a recent introduction from Naylor Creek Gardens in the USA, and the breeder/owner is Gary Lindheimer and Jack Hirsch. It is a sport of B. 'Langtrees' with large heart-shaped leaves that are covered with a silver overlay that makes it look a ghostly gray at a distance. Naylor Creek said: "'A thin white margin frames the leaf and creates a 'winged' effect. Tiny masses of blue flowers top the clump from early spring into summer. Makes a great specimen plant in any shade garden and has shown tremendous vigor". Prefers moist soil and a shady to semi-shady location-can take more sun as long as adequate moisture is available. From 2002 onwards - it will be available wholesale in Europe from Plantipp and CNB.
