Penstemon 'Zuriblau'

Penstemon heterophyllus 'Zuriblau' is one of those plants that shouts STAR! as soon as you see it.

"It may well be the next big thing as soon as one of the wholesalers gets it to the propagating bench"

At least that's what I wrote way back in 1995 when PLANTS Issue 2 was published - unfortunately, I don't think I have seen it since.

Where are you Zuriblau'?

The finely cut grey leaves are the first thing you notice about the plant - but that's before the first flowers are even on a stem.

The buds are yellow and the flowers open to a gorgeous shimmering amethyst.

A plant in full sun is a sight to behold and all plant enthusiasts will fall for its charms.

I said: "I'm sure it is one of those plants that will be a classic adored by books and magazines in years to come. Remember where you heard about it! "

Just shows that you can't judge the future of commercially available garden plants!
